Winter. The time of hibernation. Yet it’s one of the busiest months of the year for us humans. As we edge towards Winter Solstice, dive deep into colder months, it should be a non negotiable to look after your inner world. But is it? Do you take rest? Slow down? Or do you ramp it up and feel burnt out come January? Having to meet everyone, feeling the need to say yes to everything, buy a million gifts no one needs, spend a fortune on others & forget to stop and breathe….forget to look after yourself first & foremost.
In Chinese Medicine, it’s a time to nourish the Kidneys. Give way to the water element. When we push ourselves to exhaustion, we deplete our essence (vitality) and upset the kidneys. You may be feeling stiff in the physical body (think inner thighs and back chain), fearful, stressed out and lose your spark. Slow down friend. Slow down.
Let go of the struggle this time of year can bring. Go with the flow. Take a time out. Settle into more yin, allow the darkness to guide you to places you’ve been neglecting.
During this 2 hour practice we will enjoy silence, breath, sensation and nourishment. Get your fix in before the festive madness gobbles you up. Bring a notebook & pen if you enjoy journalling.
